Three stand up comedians you should know

Who doesn’t like a good comedy show when they are chealing on the couch on a lazy Sunday evening? Here are three female and non – binary stand up comedians to keep you the funniest company!

1. Sindhu Vee

I found Sindhu while browsing on youtube and, oh boy, it was a hell of an evening. I saw almost every second of the videos available on the platform and I was still craving for more. Although I couldn’t relate that much with her thematics, since she talks a lot about having and raising kids as a parent, having a long time marriage, or being a migrant in US, I couldn’t help but truly enjoy her lines about the stereotypes we all have heard regarding Indian culture and customs. Sindhu Vee is not only an award – winning comedian but also a writer and actoress. She used to pursue a carrer in investment banking but her love and talent in comedy drove her to another path. You can enjoy her on YouTube and Spotify, and find out more about her and her work on her website.

2. Sasheer Zamata

Sasheer Zamata is a comedian, writer and actress. On one of her shows, she confined that her name originates from Star Trek, because their parents are Trekkies, but they had actually misspelled the original Start Trek name! She has worked in Disney World as a character perfomer being Pluto. Her thematics are about her personal experiences as a Black woman in US, while tackling some gender – based stereotypes with her humor as well. Sasheer also serves as an ambassador for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), working on the Women’s Rights Project. You can enjoy her on YouTube and Spotify and find out more about her work on her website.

3. Mae Martin

This list wouldn’t be complete without Mae Martin and some LGBTQ+ comedy! I met Mae on Netflix, playing a fictionalized version of themselves in the autobiographical romantic comedy “feel good”. And, to be honest, I felt really good watching the series. Mae uses both they/them and she/her pronouns and describes themselves as non – binary. They were only 11 years old when they fell in love with stand – up comedy and since then they have built an amazing career a comedian, actor and screenwriter. On their shows, they talk a lot about dating and sex, thematics that most of us could picture ourselves on. You can enjoy them on YouTube and Netflix, and find out more about their live shows and their work in their personal website.

That was it folks! Enjoy!!
